anti-ageing

The term “anti-ageing” has been a popular buzzword in the aesthetics and skincare industry for decades now. It is used to describe products and procedures that claim to reverse the effects of ageing, such as wrinkles, fine lines and skin laxity. But for the last few years, there’s been a movement to ditch the term “anti-ageing” and replace it with a fresh perspective on what it really means to embrace your beauty at every stage of life.

First of all, it’s important to understand that ageing is a natural process. No matter how hard we try to avoid it, how much skincare we apply, cosmetic injectables we use or plastic surgery we choose to have, skin ageing is something inevitable for all of us. Slowly, everything starts to change – from our skin’s texture and tone, to the firmness and shape of our features, to new wrinkles, lines and creases. The problem with the race to stop ageing is that it can create a never-ending cycle of dissatisfaction with our appearance, as we are constantly trying to achieve an impossible standard of youthfulness.

The word “anti” is normally added to other words to create new terms with opposite meanings, implying we’re “against” something or someone, so the term “anti-ageing” implies that there is something inherently wrong with getting older, therefore we should all oppose it, fight against it. It suggests that ageing is an undesirable problem that needs to be fixed, rather than a natural part of everyone’s life.

Here at JB Cosmetic, we believe it’s time to stop using the term “anti-ageing” and instead, we should all focus on promoting healthy, happy ageing. Using language that is inclusive and empowering is part of the process. We believe ageing is not something to be feared, but something to be proud of, celebrated and embraced.

“Do not complain about growing old, it is a privilege denied to many” Mark Twain once said.

Embracing ageing and cosmetic injectables: how these two seemingly conflicting ideas can coexist

The use of cosmetic injectables, such as neuromodulators and dermal fillers, has become increasingly popular in recent years. These treatments can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, enhance facial features and restore volume to the face.

It’s important to understand that embracing ageing does not mean giving up on taking care of one’s appearance. It’s about finding a balance between accepting the natural changes that come as we grow older and taking steps to maintain your confidence and self-esteem by being happy with how you look. Cosmetic injectables can be a part of this balance when used in moderation and with natural-looking results as a goal.

Cosmetic treatments can and should be used to help us look and feel our best at any age. As long as they are not seen as a magic solution to “stop the clock”, injectables can be an excellent way to temporarily improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and loss of volume.

It’s also worth noting that cosmetic injectables are not just for those who wish to reverse signs of ageing. They can also be used to enhance or harmonise certain facial features, such as a non-surgical rhinoplasty, lip augmentation or jawline reshaping.

Undergoing aesthetic treatments doesn’t have to mean that you don’t accept the ageing process. Although you shouldn’t rely upon aesthetic procedures to feel good about yourself, they can be a great tool to enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence, helping you become the best version of yourself, no matter your age.
